BENGALURU: Namma Metro passengers who rely on the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) will have to bear with some temporary inconvenience as the mobility cards won’t work till April 15 due to a technical glitch.
Passengers with NCMC cards are unable to recharge their cards and use them for metro travel. A technical issue has affected the recharge functionality of old mobility cards. As a result, thousands of passengers are unable to recharge their cards, and despite having funds available in the wallets, they are unable to travel.

Due to the issues with the mobility cards, BMRCL has decided to halt the distribution of NCMC cards until April 15. The problems arose due to changes in the backend systems after RBL Bank, which supplies NCMC, changed its vendors. BMRCL officials have assured that the issue will be resolved by April 15.
NCMC card users are relatively lesser compared to those using contactless smart cards, tokens, or QR codes. The National Common Mobility Card can be used on Namma Metro, BMTC and other transportation systems across the country, as well as retail stores, petrol pumps, and shopping malls.
Free closed-loop smart cards are being provided to passengers to reduce the current inconvenience. The balance on the old NCMC card is being transferred to the new card, the BMRCL clarified.
