State at the forefront of attracting investments

Tokyo:

Minister for Large and Medium Industries, Dr. Murugesh R. Nirani invited the Tokyo Kannada Diaspora to participate in the Global Investors Meet (GIM) scheduled on Nov 2nd – 4th in Bengaluru.

The Karnataka delegation led by Large and Medium Industries Dr. Murugesh R Nirani is visiting Tokyo to invite Japanese investors to participate in the upcoming GIM.

Speaking in a program organized by Tokyo Kannada Diaspora at the Embassy of India in Japan, Nirani said, ” Karnataka and Japan have cordial industrial relations. Especially, as far as Japan is concerned, a Japanese Industrial Township has been set up at Vasantanarasapura, Tumkur. Around 519.55 acres of land have been earmarked and basic infrastructure facilities have been provided. We will encourage and extend all support to Japanese companies investing in Karnataka,” he assured.

“The state government encourages direct investment by foreign companies in all sectors to achieve greater economic progress. Karnataka ranks first in the list of states that have attracted the most foreign direct investment. Our state’s share in the total foreign direct investment of the country is 38 percent,” he explained.

The Minister lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in making India globally competitive and also lauded CM Bommai’s policies for the state’s progress.

The World Economic Forum Meet in Davos proved fruitful for Karnataka as the State has succeeded in drawing huge investments. Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, investments worth Rs 1 lakh crore have been signed in the last 3-4 months.

This only shows the strong faith reposed by major companies in Karnataka. Many more companies have expressed their keen desire to invest in the state, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Ganesh Krishnaiah of Tokyo Kannada Diaspora said, “Tokyo Kannada Diaspora has more than 1000 members and many of them have been honored by the Japanese government for their contribution towards the development of the country. Japanese citizens also participate and celebrate the Ugadi festival organized by Kannada Diaspora.”

Mayank Joshi, Deputy Chief of Mission, Indian Embassy, and Manoj Singh Negi, First Secretary, Indian Embassy, and members of the Kannada diaspora were present.
