Vikram Hospital gets 2nd notice for not allotting 50% Covid beds
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta issues similar notice to Shifaa Hospital and HBS Hospital for not reserving required Covid beds

In less than a week, Vikram Hospital has been served a second notice for failing to comply with the state government’s order to allot 50% beds to BBMP for treatment of referred Covid patients.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta visited Vikram Hospital for the second time on Saturday and ordered his staff to issue a new notice to the hospital. BBMP has sought the hospital’s explanation for non-compliance within 24 hours, failing which legal action will ensue.

Apart from Vikram Hospital, Gupta also visited Shifaa Hospital and HBS Hospital. These hospitals too have failed to comply with the government order for reserving 50% beds and more ICU beds for Covid patients. Similar notices have been issued to the two hospitals.
‘No oxygen shortage’
Speaking to the media later, Gupta said 11,000 private hospital beds would be requisitioned in the next few days. He claimed there was no oxygen shortage in the state. Karnataka produces 800 tonnes of oxygen out of which the health sector requires 150-200 tonnes, he said.
Zonal Commissioner Manoj Jain (East Zone), Joint Commissioner Pallavi, DCP Sharanappa, Chief Health Officer Dr BK Vijendra, Health Officer Siddappaaji and other officials were present.
