Bengaluru, June 8: Bengaluru Traffic Police have registered 588 drunk driving cases and 91 over-speeding violations during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city between June 1 and June 7.

The city-wide operation was carried out by traffic personnel from 53 traffic police stations as part of efforts to improve road safety and curb dangerous driving behaviour.

According to the Traffic Police, a total of 39,616 vehicles were checked during the special drive targeting motorists driving under the influence of alcohol and those exceeding speed limits.

Key Highlights of the Special Drive

  • 39,616 vehicles checked
  • 588 drunk driving cases registered
  • 91 over-speeding cases booked
  • ₹91,000 collected as fines for over-speeding violations
  • Drive conducted across all 53 Bengaluru traffic police stations

Focus on Road Safety

Traffic Police officials said the special enforcement campaign was aimed at reducing road accidents caused by drunken driving and reckless speeding.

The department noted that drink-and-drive violations continue to be among the leading causes of serious road accidents, particularly during weekends and late-night hours.

Drive to Continue

Police officials stated that similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming weeks to ensure safer roads across Bengaluru.

Motorists have been advised to strictly follow traffic rules, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and adhere to prescribed speed limits to prevent accidents and legal action.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police reiterated that road safety remains a top priority and warned that violators would face stringent enforcement measures in future operations.
