BWSSB Begins Preparatory Survey for Cauvery Water Supply Scheme Stage VI
Bengaluru: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), under the chairmanship of Dr. V. Ram Prasath Manohar, IAS, has initiated the preparatory survey for the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme (CWSS) – Stage VI, marking a key step towards strengthening the city’s future water infrastructure.
The move comes as Bengaluru continues to witness rapid urban growth, increasing the demand for sustainable and reliable water supply systems. Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, the State government has prioritized long-term water security and infrastructure expansion to meet the needs of the growing population.
Officials stated that the preparatory survey will lay the groundwork for the next phase of augmentation under the Cauvery Water Supply Scheme, which has been the backbone of Bengaluru’s water supply for decades.
Projects of this scale require detailed planning, strong inter-departmental coordination, and sustained execution to ensure efficient and uninterrupted service delivery. The survey will help assess technical feasibility, infrastructure requirements, and future demand projections.
The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing Bengaluru’s long-term water security and ensuring that the city is equipped to handle future challenges related to water availability.
