Bengaluru: The Indian National Congress has suspended Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Abdul Jabbar from the party’s primary membership with immediate effect, citing anti-party activities during the recent by-election in the Davanagere South Assembly constituency.
According to an official press release issued by KPCC President and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, the disciplinary action has been taken following Jabbar’s alleged involvement in activities that went against the party’s interests during the crucial bypoll.
Abdul Jabbar, who resides at No.24, 4th Road, Benson A-Cross Road, Benson Town in Bengaluru, has been a member of the Legislative Council and an active figure within the party. However, the leadership has acted swiftly to enforce party discipline in light of the reported violations.
Party sources indicate that the move is part of a broader effort by the Congress leadership to send a strong message against indiscipline, especially in the backdrop of politically sensitive by-elections.
The Congress has reiterated its commitment to maintaining internal discipline and ensuring that party members adhere to official directives during elections.
