Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off the new Vande Bharat Express train running between Bengaluru and Ernakulam.
Along with this, PM Modi also inaugurated Vande Bharat trains operating between Banaras-Khajuraho, Lucknow-Saharanpur, and Firozpur-Delhi routes.
This comfortable train connects Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, and its symbolic inauguration took place at Ernakulam Railway Station as part of the Bengaluru-Ernakulam route.
Belonging to the Southern Railway zone headquartered in Chennai, the train will officially commence its daily service from November 9.
The train will connect key stations including Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad in Kerala; Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem in Tamil Nadu; and K.R. Puram and KSR Bengaluru stations in Karnataka.
The train will depart from KSR Bengaluru station at 5:10 AM daily except Wednesdays and reach Ernakulam at 1:50 PM the same day.
In the return direction, the train will leave Ernakulam at 2:20 PM daily except Wednesdays and arrive at KSR Bengaluru station by 11:00 PM.
Covering a distance of 583 kilometers, the Vande Bharat train will complete the journey in approximately 8 hours and 40 minutes. This train is expected to be a vital connectivity bridge between Ernakulam, Kerala’s economic capital, and Bengaluru.
The train consists of eight coaches and is anticipated to meet the high demand on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu-Karnataka corridor.
The Southern Railway has expressed confidence that this new Vande Bharat Express will serve as a significant transport solution in the region.
