Ashwath Narayan claims all govt college students will be vaccinated ‘in a few days’
BENGALURU:
Announcing acceleration of students’ vaccination in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister and state Covid task force head Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said on Thursday that the vaccination coverage of students so far is 65.14%.
Claiming that all students would be vaccinated within a few days, Dr Narayan said the current focus was on students and staff of government-funded degree colleges. “Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education Department) G Kumar Nayak and Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma have held talks with all district officials today to expedite the vaccination for graduate students statewide,” he said.

Dr Narayan said the government was collecting data on the vaccination drive in in private colleges. “There are 490,799 students in government and aided degree colleges in the six academic zones of the state. Similarly, out of a total of 29,241 staff, 24,875 were vaccinated and 85.07% of the target was achieved. Around 65.14% of students and staff have been covered,” he added.
