BENGALURU:

The collapse of a three-storey, 51-year-old building in Bengaluru’s Chikpet assembly constituency in ward 145 (Hombegowdanagar), was dramatically captured on camera on Monday.

No casualties or injuries have been reported as the entire building was evacuated after a crack was noticed in the morning. The building is said to have housed Metro construction workers.

Tilted earlier

“The building was constructed in 1960. At present it is rented out to Metro labourers. The tilt in the building was noticed earlier. This morning, around 11.15, it was noticed that plaster from the walls and ceiling was falling down. Around 15 labourers were present in the house but managed to come out safely. The entire area was cordened off. Around 11.40 am, the building came down in a big heap of rubble,” said an officer.

Fire Department officials rushed to the spot after the residents called them and evacuated the building just moments before the collapse.
