Bengaluru: In a horrific road accident near the Tamil Nadu border, three people were killed and seven others injured in a 12-vehicle pile-up on the Bengaluru-Chennai National Highway near Kurubarapalli in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred when a speeding lorry lost control and crashed into several vehicles, triggering a chain collision involving over a dozen vehicles, including bikes, cars, and an autorickshaw.
The deceased have been identified as two bike riders and one autorickshaw driver. The impact was so severe that several vehicles were mangled beyond recognition. Visuals from the scene show a lorry overturned on the highway, with adjacent vehicles heavily damaged.
Seven injured persons have been shifted to Krishnagiri Government Hospital, police said.
Traffic movement was severely disrupted for hours due to the pile-up. Authorities from Tamil Nadu have initiated a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident. Eyewitnesses claimed that poor visibility and rash driving may have contributed to the incident.
