28 districts in Karnataka report ‘zero’ Covid deaths

BENGALURU:

After the mini-storm created by the on-again, off-again night curfew farce, there’s some more pleasant news for Karnataka citizens as 28 of the state’s 31 districts reported nil Covid fatalities on Friday. Only two districts reported deaths in the last 24 hours — Bengaluru Urban with 4 and Dharwad with one.

As per the media bulletin released by the state health department, the three (all male) deaths of the four reported in Bengaluru were in private hospitals, while the single female casualty was reported from a state government hospital.

All the five casualties (four male and one female) were senior citizens above the age of 75 years. All of them had symptoms of breathlessness, cough, fever and cold. The male patient in Dharwad died on December 23, while the three male patients in Bengaluru died on December 24 and the female patient on December 23.

The state’s Covid fatality tally is now 12,044, of which Bengaluru Urban accounts for the highest number of 4,287 deaths and Mysuru for the second highest of 1,008 deaths. The district with the lowest fatality count is Yadgiri, with 61 deaths reported till December 25.

The state’s total Covid caseload is now 9,14,488, including 13,508 active cases and 8,88,917 recoveries.
