1,150 Tabs distributed to 10 govt. schools of Ramanagara

District in-charge minister of Ramanagara & Higher Education Minister Dr. C N Aswath Narayan on Tuesday symbolically distributed 1,150 tabs to students belonging to 10 select government schools of Ramanagara under the auspices of ‘Yuva-Unstoppable’.

Participating in a programme here at the Vikasa Soudha in the presence of top officials of various companies, the minister said Karnataka will become the educational hub of India within the next 10 years.

He said the government intends to start cluster schools in every taluk from the coming academic year of 2022-23 and strengthen education in government schools thereby enhancing the quality of teaching for children living in the surrounding villages.

He said the government intends to pick up children from surrounding villages to attend school and also drop them off back home in vehicles. The district in-charge minister said the government is spending Rs 40,000 crore on upgrading primary and secondary education but regretted that education had not reached expected levels.

Dr. Narayan said the difference in the quality of education imparted between private and government schools was just 5 percent while noting that 70 percent of the top jobs were garnered by those students who had passed out from government schools. He said government schools are being digitalised, decentralised, and made independent entities with a sense of responsibility.

P Pradeep, commissioner of department of collegiate and technical education said smart classrooms with modern teaching aids have come into existence with the government of Karnataka being the first state in the country to implement the National Education Policy. He said there is a need to further strengthen education in government-run colleges with the help of corporates.

Ikra, Ramanagara ZP CEO explained the measures taken by the education department in strengthening the quality of education in government schools. He said if companies evince interest in running government schools, more parents will bring their wards to study in such schools.

Catamaran Ventures MD Ranganath and Sheetal Bhat and D N Prahlad of Infosys, founder of Vedantu Pulkit Jain, Smriti Sharma of Amazon, Srinath Narayanaiah of Mark Company, Ramesh Ramadorai of 3M, Ravindra Pai and Kiran Pai of Century Group, Anil Shetty of BJYM, Ramakanth Sharma of Livspace, K Chasmitha and Amithab Shah of Yuva Unstoppable among others were also present.

It has been decided to distribute 2,500 tabs to government school students across the state Under ‘Yuva-Unstoppable’. Out of this, 1,150 tabs will be distributed to students studying 7,8, and 9 in selected 10 schools in the Ramanagara district. The students of Aralalusandra (Channapattana taluk), Kudur and Tippasandra (Magadi taluk), Doddalahalli (Kanakapura taluk), Avverahalli, Karanataka Public Schools, Sankighatta, Chakkere, Ganakal, Uyyamballi (Ramanaga taluk), Government Girls Highschool (Magadi town) will be benefitted. Tabs were symbolically distributed to 15 students of these schools on Tuesday. It was announced that the remaining students will be given tabs at their schools soon.

‘Yuva- Unstoppable’ has so far helped to upgrade/refurbish 3,000 government schools across 18 states. Among these 500 schools belong to Karnataka. It has provided facilities such as drinking water, toilet, bathroom, smart classrooms, scholarships, training of teachers, etc. The platform aims to revive 10,000 government schools across the nation.
