Rs 2.50 cr govt grant to hone canine sleuths’ skills
BENGALURU:
The police dog squad will see 50 more ‘recruits’ soon, following the state government’s grant of Rs 2.50 crore for the purpose.Â
Making this announcement while inaugurating the department’s upgraded Dog Activity Park on Tuesday, Bengaluru police commissioner Bhaskar Rao said the dog squad plays a crucial part in detection of explosives, drugs and crime scene trails.
The upgraded facility will provide future ‘recruits’ with the best possible training.  Â

Female handlers
He said noted dog psychologist Amrut Hiranya, popularly known as ‘dog guru’, has been asked to upgrade the skills of the dog squad.
Besides, female police constables would be appointed as dog handlers in the near future, added Bhaskar Rao.
