Woman techie suspects sexual assault after visiting pub, lodges complaint

BENGALURU: A woman techie has lodged a complaint with the Koramangala police suspecting that she may have been sexually assaulted. However, the police have raised suspicion about the timeline of the events mentioned in the complaint.

In her complaint, the woman techie stated that she had gone to a pub in Koramangala on December 12 evening, but when she came to her senses, she was in Deve Gowda Layout in Adugodi. She knocked on a door and some locals called the emergency number 112 following which the Adugodi police rescued her.

Later, the woman lodged a complaint with the Koramangala police raising doubts that she may have been sexually assaulted when she was unconscious and sought an investigation.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) C K Baba, giving details about the incident, said the woman had gone to a pub in Koramangala around 8.30 pm and stayed there till 11.30 pm. “According to her complaint, she suspects that she may have been assaulted between 11.30 pm and 12 am. But as per preliminary investigation, the timings do not match. Prima facie, it does not seem to be like how it is mentioned in the complaint. However, we are investigating and more details will be knows after we complete our investigation”, the office said.
