Bengaluru/Vijayapura: D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, confirmed that he and fellow party member D.K. Suresh (his younger brother) donated 25 lakhs to the National Herald, a newspaper affiliated with their party.
In response to inquiries regarding his name being linked to D.K. Suresh and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in connection with the National Herald case, Shivakumar stated, “The National Herald is a newspaper operated by our party. Both Suresh and I contributed 25 lakhs to support it, and we also made donations from our trust.”
When asked if he had any concerns about the donation, he emphasized, “We made this contribution with pride, drawn from our hard-earned resources. Our support was not made in secrecy.”
Upon being informed that a donation of Rs 2.5 crore had been made, he responded, “Yes, we have contributed to the Trust. We are not denying it. Did we do so secretly? No. We have made this donation transparently from our income.” The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized his commitment to philanthropy, stating that he intends to continue making such contributions in the future.
