Chikkamagalur | Entry to Datta Peetha and Mullayyanagiri barred from November 4 to November 6

CHIKKAMAGALUR:

If you are planning to visit popular tourist destinations at the end of the year, be aware of the restrictions. From December 22 to 27, visitors will not be allowed to access the Mullayyanagiri peak and its surrounding areas.

The district administration has implemented these measures due to the Datta Jayanti celebrations at Baba Budangiri Datta Peetha, which will take place from December 17 to 26.

In anticipation of the large influx of Datta Mala devotees and tourists, the district administration has imposed a six-day ban on tourist entry at Seetalayyanagiri, Mullayyanagiri, Datta Peetha, Manikyadhara Falls, Gali Kere, and other tourist spots in the Western Ghats. The road leading to Datta Peetha is narrow and cannot accommodate a high volume of vehicles.

On December 24, thousands of women will participate in a grand procession and engage in rituals as part of Anusuya Jayanti. The following day, over 20,000 Datta devotees and citizens will join the Shobha Yatra. On December 26, approximately 30,000 devotees are expected to arrive at Datta Peetha to celebrate Datta Jayanti.
