BENGALURU:
The Karnataka High Court is preparing to reinstate its video conferencing facility on Monday, implementing stricter guidelines for participants on a trial basis.
The court had temporarily suspended the facility on December 5 due to an incident where unknown individuals streamed explicit videos during court proceedings. An FIR has been filed against the unidentified suspects.
In an effort to prevent such incidents from occurring again, the Registrar of the High Court has issued new guidelines. These guidelines state that registration of participants is now mandatory.
Before gaining access to the Zoom Platform through the signup procedure, each advocate, party-in-person, litigant, and government department must register on the High Court Online Digital Case Diary portal, as stated in the modified guidelines.
The High Court emphasized the importance of this mandatory requirement, stating, “The registration in the online digital case diary is necessary to whitelist the email IDs provided therein, granting them access to the court hall proceedings via video conferencing. This measure is essential to ensure cyber security.”
