The explosion resulted in the death of a woman and left two others critically injured. The deceased has been identified as Shobha Theli. The explosion, which is believed to have been caused by high pressure in the boiler, was severe enough to cause the walls of the factory to collapse. Priya Exports, which polishes maize for export, is co-owned by Athani MLA Laxman Savadi and a businessman from Sangli. The injured individuals were taken to hospitals in Athani and Miraj, Maharashtra for treatment. Local authorities, including the Athani police, have inspected the site, and a case has been registered in connection with the incident.
