Jnanendra wants strict action against drug network, illegal foreigners in Bengaluru
BENGALURU:
Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Thursday directed the Bengaluru police to maintain peace, law and order in the capital city, placing special emphasis on closing down illegal clubs and casinos in Bengaluru.
Addressing the media after a review meeting with the Bengaluru city police commissioner, Jnanendra said, “All illegal clubs, casinos and other unlawful acts will have no scope in Bengaluru. There are reports of illegal clubs and casinos functioning in the city. I have directed the police to stop these through the setting up of a special task force.”
The Minister said senior police officers had been instructed to take stringent action against drug trafficking, smuggling, distribution and use in the city and “all possible steps will be taken to root out the drug network.”
‘Identify illegal aliens’
The Minister stressed the need to identify, within each police station limits, foreign nationals who are staying illegally or whose visas have expired. “There have been reports of foreign citizens, local persons and some government officials conniving in obtaining Aadhaar and ration cards illegally,” he said, and called for legal action against such government employees.
