Severe Cold Wave Persists Across Karnataka, IMD Predicts Dry Weather Statewide Till December 20

Bengaluru: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Bengaluru, has forecast dry weather across all regions of Karnataka for the next seven days, even as severe cold wave and cold wave conditions continue to grip several districts of the state.

According to the Daily Weather Report issued at 12 noon on Sunday, dry conditions will prevail over Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka from December 14 to December 20.

Cold Wave Warning: District-wise Impact

The IMD has issued a severe cold wave warning for isolated pockets of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura and Bagalkote districts of North Interior Karnataka on December 14, followed by cold wave conditions on December 15.

In addition, cold wave conditions are likely for the next two days in Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri and Koppal districts of North Interior Karnataka.

Parts of South Interior Karnataka are also expected to experience cold wave conditions over the next two days, particularly in Mysuru, Davangere, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Vijayanagara districts.

Temperature Outlook

The IMD stated that minimum temperatures across Interior Karnataka are likely to show no major change for the next two days, followed by a gradual rise of 2โ€“3ยฐC thereafter.
A similar trend is expected over Coastal Karnataka, with stable temperatures initially and a slight increase later in the week.

Bengaluru City Forecast

For Bengaluru and surrounding areas, the IMD has predicted:

  • Next 24 & 48 hours: Mainly clear skies
  • Fog or mist very likely during early morning hours in some areas
  • Maximum temperature: Around 29ยฐC
  • Minimum temperature: Around 14ยฐC

Residents have been advised to take precautions against cold exposure, particularly during early morning and night hours.

The bulletin was issued under the signature of Dr. N. Puviarasan, Scientist โ€˜Fโ€™ & Head, Meteorological Centre, Bengaluru.
