BENGALURU: Holenarsipur MLA H D Revanna was granted bail on Monday by the special court for elected representatives in a harassment case filed in Holenarsipur. He was named the first accused, with his son Prajwal Revanna named as the second accused.

Revanna was required to provide a bond of Rs 5 lakh along with a surety. Earlier in the day, the special investigation team, which is handling the case, strongly opposed the bail.

“The SIT was criticized for attempting to add charges after assuring the court that they would not do so. This is a victory for us. Senior lawyer C V Nagesh argued for bail,” said one of Revanna’s lawyers, A P Ranganath.

Meanwhile, the SIT has appealed to the high court to cancel the bail granted to Revanna and the court is yet to schedule a hearing for the case.

In response, advocate Ranganath stated that this is a government conspiracy to target Revanna and they will fight it legally. “The SIT’s appeal may be rejected, or they may file a B-report,” he added.
