IMD predicts more rain in city till May 30
BENGALURU:
Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed Bengaluru on Sunday, leaving several trees uprooted near BTM layout, Koramangala, Siddapura, Malleswaram, Jayanagar, Basavangudi and other parts of the city.
The BBMP control room received more than 150 complaints of fallen trees. There was waterlogging at many locations and traffic cops were seen trying to clear clogged drains.
A huge eucalyptus tree was uprooted at 4th Cross, Lakkasandra, damaging 3 houses and a few vehicles. Fortunately, no one injured.
BBMP Mayor M Gautham Kumar tweeted: “Today’s rains brought complaints to the Control Room about fallen trees. With the co-operation of the forest department team, Bescom, the traffic police and firefighters, clearing work is on.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in Bengaluru till May 30. In its weather update for Sunday, it had warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated pockets of Kerala and Karnataka. The turbulence could continue in some parts of southern India till May 28.
