Protestor’s car runs over Bengaluru DCP’s foot!

No serious injury to DCP (Bengaluru North) Meena; car driver detained

BENGALURU:

In a freak accident, IPS officer Dharmendra Kumar Meena suffered an injury to his left foot on Monday after a car ran over it in the city on Monday.

Meena is currently posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the North division and was on duty at Goraguntepalya junction on Tumkuru Road during the Bharat Bandh farmers’ protest.

There were no internal injuries, and a precautionary X-ray too did not show any fractures.

“Dharmendra Meena, DCP of Bangalore North, narrowly escaped while on protest duty on Monday when a vehicle ran over him during the protest. The policemen present on the spot were also taken by surprise by the incident. At present, Dharmendra Meena is fine, the injury is not serious,” a top official said in a message shared with the media.

“The person driving the car has been detained by the police. The person, Harish
Gowda, is said to be a member of the pro-Kannada Sangathan. Today, the workers of this organization are also taking part in the bandh,” the official added.
