P Manivannan is now Major in Territorial Army

‘Unique’ IAS officer, with a yen for the ‘uniform’, is also a strong voice for workers’ rights

BENGALURU:

Karnataka cadre 1998 batch IAS officer P Manivannan, who sported the rank of ‘Captain’ earlier, is now a Major in the Territorial Army.

His wife Salma Fahim broke the news on her Facebook page by posting three pictures with the caption — “From Captain to Major!”

Also posted was a picture of the couple with their two sons. Salma Fahim is also an IAS officer in Karnataka.

The first IAS officer from Karnataka to join the Territorial Army in 2014, Manivannan was commissioned as a Lieutenant attached to the Parachute Regiment.

Hailing from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, he cleared the Civil Services exam in 1998 and was given the Karnataka cadre.
