Budget announcement comes as a relief to already hard-hit citizens
BENGALURU:
In a relief to citizens reeling under high automobile fuel prices and their cascading effect on prices of other commodities, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, while presenting the state budget for fiscal year 2021-22 on Monday, announced that there would be no new taxes on petrol and diesel.
Amid a boycott by Congress leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah and other Congress MLAs, Yediyurappa presented his third straight budget since 2019 and his eight budget so far. He said there would be no increase in the state levies on petrol and diesel.
