Bengaluru, March 10: Karnataka Food Minister K.H. Muniyappa on Tuesday said the state government remains committed to implementing internal reservation in recruitment, and a final decision will be taken during a special Cabinet meeting scheduled for March 27.
Muniyappa made the statement after leading a delegation along with Excise Minister R.B. Timmapur to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and discuss the issue. The delegation urged the Chief Minister to ensure that internal reservation is incorporated in the recruitment process so that equitable representation is provided to various communities.
Responding to the delegation, the Chief Minister reportedly gave a positive assurance, stating that the government is committed to implementing internal reservation and ensuring fair justice to all communities without discrimination. The government, he said, intends to provide balanced opportunities to all groups covered under the policy.
Muniyappa also appealed to organisations and community groups not to make unnecessary statements or launch protests regarding the issue, assuring that the government will handle the matter carefully.
He added that once the Assembly session concludes, a special Cabinet meeting will be convened on March 27, where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will deliberate on the matter and take the final decision.
Members of the delegation included Excise Minister R.B. Timmapur, former MP Chandrappa, former minister Anjaneya, MLAs Srinivas, Basavantappa, Sudamdas, Timmayya and Vasanth Kumar, along with several community leaders who participated in the discussions.
