MANDYA: A man and his two children, who were missing from Maranayakanahalli in Bengaluru from April 17, were found dead in their car in the Varuna Canal on the KRS north bank near Srirangapatna on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Kumaraswamy (39), Advaith and Akshara. The car, along with the bodies of the three, was pulled out of the water with the help of a crane. It is suspected that man and his children may have committed suicide.

On the day, they went missing, Kumaraswamy had last called his family and informed them that they were at Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS). Soon after, his phone was switched off.

Mandya Police Superintendent Mallikarjun Baladandi said a missing persons’ case was registered at the Maranayakanahalli police station in Bengaluru. “Their location ws traced to the KRS north bank canal, but Kumaraswam and his children were not found even after a search. On Tuesday morning, the car was spotted in the canal along with all the three bodies. We are investigating if this was a case of suicide or accident”, he added.
