Kodagu: In a remarkable survival story, a young woman from Kerala who had gone missing during a trek at Tadiandamol Hills in Kodagu district has been found safe after four days in a dense forest.
The trekker, identified as Sharanya, had ventured alone into the forest and went missing during the trek. She survived in the wilderness for four days without food, relying only on a single bottle of water before finally emerging safely.
Tadiandamol, a popular trekking destination known for its scenic beauty, attracts a large number of tourists, especially during the spring season. However, the terrain is equally dangerous, with dense forests, rocky paths, and limited human presence.

Sharanya had reportedly stayed at a homestay in Napoklu and later joined a trekking group to climb the hill. While the rest of the group returned safely by evening, she was reported missing as she did not return and could not be located by fellow trekkers.
Following a complaint, police launched a massive search operation involving anti-Naxal force personnel, dog squads, forest department officials, and local volunteers. A special team of around 40 personnel also used drones to scan the forest area.
After four days of continuous efforts, the search teams finally located Sharanya in the forest, bringing relief to her family and authorities.
Local MLA A.S. Ponnanna appreciated the coordinated efforts of the police, forest department, and villagers in the successful rescue operation. Forest Minister also acknowledged the pressure and urgency in locating the missing woman and confirmed that all available resources were deployed.
Officials highlighted that the rescue was possible due to continuous monitoring, teamwork, and the support of local tribal communities who played a crucial role in navigating the forest terrain.
Sharanya’s survival and rescue have been hailed as a testament to human resilience and the effectiveness of coordinated emergency response systems.
