Quick response to PM’s call for ‘janata curfew’ on Sunday

BMTC to run truncated bus services

BENGALURU:

As the country prepares to respond to the Prime Minister’s appeal for a ‘janata’ curfew (7 am to 9 pm) on Sunday, March 22, to fight the coronavirus, Bengaluru?s public transport providers have risen to the occasion.

On its Twitter handle, BMRCL has said: “It may kindly be noted that in wake of the Janta Curfew on Sunday, 22/03/2020, BMRCL has decided to keep its services closed. This is to encourage the public to stay indoors to maintain social distancing and is essential to counter the spread of Covid-19.”

In a release, public bus service provider BMTC has indicated that it will operate reduced services on the day. It claims it has yet to receive an intimation from the state government in this regard.
