Belagavi/Bengaluru: In a stirring display of patriotism and unity, the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MARATHA LIRC) in Belagavi celebrated the 79th Independence Day with a vibrant series of ‘Tiranga’ events under the leadership of Brigadier Joydeep Mukherjee, Commandant, MARATHA LIRC. The celebrations highlighted the regiment’s unwavering commitment to the nation’s values and the enduring camaraderie among its soldiers.
The festivities commenced on August 13 with the Tiranga Cycle Rally, aimed at promoting physical fitness, environmental consciousness, and national pride. Participants pedalled through designated routes while proudly carrying the Tricolour, inspiring spectators along the way.
On August 14, the Tiranga Run saw officers, JCOs, and other ranks join forces in a spirited display of discipline, teamwork, and vitality. The run symbolised the regiment’s readiness and unity of purpose.
The grand finale came on August 15 with the Tiranga Yatra, a colourful rally that showcased regimental pride and collective resolve. The event served as a fitting tribute to the courage and sacrifice of India’s freedom fighters, reaffirming MARATHA LIRC’s dedication to protecting the sovereignty and unity of the nation.
Speaking at the culmination, senior officers underscored that the three-day celebrations were not only a tribute to the past but also a reaffirmation of the regiment’s pledge to serve the nation with honour and integrity.
