Shady past
As per sources, on June 25, 2010 Manish Shetty had fired at Kasargod’s Behumjee’s contractor Mahmud Kunjunji after a tip-off that Dawood Ibrahim had sent Rs 50 crore worth of jewellery to Kunjunji. Shetty was arrested in the case by the Kasargod police.
Muthappa Rai was said to be Shetty’s first godfather. After that he joined Bannanje Raja. Later, he started operating on his own.
Shetty, a native of Koppa in Chikkmagalur, had many cases against him in Mangaluru and Mumbai. He was associated with Bannanje Raja as well as Ravi Poojari. Shetty was the main accused in the robbery case of the Chemmanoor jewellery showroom in Banaswadi.
