KFCC distances itself from Lankesh’s ‘drugs’ remarks

Date:

Film body will discuss issue internally

BENGALURU:

At a presser on Wednesday, Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce(KFCC) members distanced themselves from director Indrajit Lankesh’s remarks to the media on a Sandalwood-drug mafia link.

Former KFCC president Jairaj said, “The news over the last few days in the media has been mind-boggling. We have no information on Indrajit Lankesh’s allegations.”

“The drugs issue wil be discussed by us. We need some information from the media — information on some aspects has already been obtained,” Jairaj said, adding that the cinema industry has been facing a (pandemic-related) crisis in the last 6 months.

Former KFCC president Sa Ra Govinda said, “I have been working in the film industry for the last 40 years. We were shocked to hear Indrajit Lankesh’s statement. If he does not prove his allegations, he will stand as accused. He could also be reprimanded by the courts.”

Sa Ra Govind added, “Indrajit Lankesh has gone straight to the media without coming to us.”
