Karnataka to bring out book and short film on life of Bengaluru’s founder

Forty-six heritage places belonging to the Kempegowda era, which have been identified in three circuits, will be developed as tourist attractions, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said on Tuesday. He was chairing a review meeting of the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Development Board here.

A concept plan has been prepared to develop historical places in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagar, Chikkaballapur and Tumakur districts. A plan has been prepared to develop the Magadi circuit at a cost of Rs 132 crore, the Bengaluru circuit for Rs 47 crore and the Nandi circuit for Rs 44 crore.

Statue and samadhi

Work on Kempegowda’s 108-foot bronze statue at a cost of Rs 64 crore near Bengaluru International Airport is in progress. The land acquisition process to develop the samadhi of Kempegowda in Kempapura village, Ramanagara district is in the final phase. The samadhi will be developed at a cost of 32 crore.

The CM instructed officials to systematically plan the rehabilitation, road development and other basic infrastructure works for the benefit of 46 families which will lose land due to the project.

It was decided to bring out a book and make a short film based on the life of Kempegowda

Multi-dept work

The CM also called for a plan to develop forts, lakes and heritage places belonging to Kempegowda’s period as tourist spots in collaboration with the Tourism, Minor Irrigation, BBMP, PWD, Forest and other departments.

Dr Ashwath Narayan, DyCM, DK Suresh Kumar, MP, Manjunath, Magadi MLA, members of the Authority, Rakesh Singh, ACS (UDD) and other officials were present.
