BENGALURU:
Despite reservations from some quarters, the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) has decided to conduct a prelim exam for gazetted probationary posts on the scheduled date of August 24.
Around 1,65,258 candidates have applied for a total of 106 posts. The examination will be held in 10 districts – Bengaluru, Belagavi, Ballari, Davanagere, Dharwad, Kalaburagi, Mangaluru, Mysuru, Raichur and Shivamogga.
Several candidates who had returned to their native places due to the corona-related lockdown are hurriedly returning to the exam centres, while frontline Covid staff may not be able to take the test.
Political leaders, including former CMs HD Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah, have suggested that this is not the appropriate time to conduct an exam and have called for its postponement. Several candidates have expressed similar views.
The exam will be carried out in compliance with the Covid SOPs of the Department of Health.
