It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of B.K. Bhattacharya, IAS (R), former Chief Secretary of Karnataka, on the night of November 17, 2023.
Mr. Bhattacharya, aged 83, had been admitted to Manipal Hospital yesterday morning after experiencing breathlessness and unfortunately succumbed to his illness later in the evening. The IAS Officers Association shared this news with fellow officers.
Born on December 5, 1940, Mr. Bhattacharya served as Chief Secretary until December 30, 2000. He leaves behind his wife, Mrs. Tereasa Bhattacharya, who also served as Chief Secretary, and two sons currently residing in the United States.
