Bengaluru: Renowned actor Kamal Haasan has approached the Karnataka High Court, seeking legal protection to facilitate the smooth release of his film ‘Thug Life’ in the state.
This legal action follows a recent announcement by the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), which stated that it would prohibit the screening of the film unless Haasan publicly apologizes for his comments suggesting that the Kannada language evolved from Tamil.
The KFCC, a prominent organization representing film producers, distributors, and exhibitors in Karnataka, declared a boycott of ‘Thug Life,’ which is set to premiere in theaters on June 5. The chamber expressed strong disapproval of Haasan’s remarks made during a promotional event in Chennai, asserting that the film would not be screened in the state until the actor issues an apology.
