Bengaluru: In a major development, the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the investigation into the Valmiki Development Corporation. The court has instructed the state-constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT) to transfer all case records and materials to the CBI.
Until now, the CBI’s probe was limited to irregularities related to bank transactions. However, several BJP leaders — including Aravind Limbavali, Basangouda Patil Yatnal, Ramesh Jarkiholi, and Kumar Bangarappa — had petitioned the court demanding a comprehensive investigation by the CBI into the wider corruption allegations surrounding the Valmiki Development Corporation.
Taking cognizance of their pleas, the court has now ruled in favour of a full-fledged CBI investigation. This significant move could reshape the trajectory of the case and potentially implicate higher-level officials or political operatives, depending on the findings.
The order marks a turning point in the politically sensitive case and has sparked considerable public and political interest about the possible revelations to emerge from the central agency’s probe.
