Karnataka's LPG supply remains stable despite panic booking by some residents. Minister K.H. Muniyappa reassures the public of adequate supply and urges judicious usage.

Bengaluru, October 16: The supply of LPG cylinders in Karnataka remains steady, with no shortages reported. However, some residents are booking more cylinders than necessary due to panic, leading to confusion, stated K.H. Muniyappa, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs, and Legal Metrology, during a media briefing after a crucial meeting with officials from IOC, HPC, BPC, and GAIL at the Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation office in Vasanthnagar.

The state is currently receiving 850 metric tons of gas daily, with usage levels high. Muniyappa urged consumers to use gas judiciously.

He clarified that the distribution of LPG cylinders is determined by the consumption patterns of each state, emphasizing that there is no political interference in the supply process.

The Chief Minister is in continuous contact with the central government and relevant agencies, ensuring that the state’s needs are communicated through formal letters when necessary.

According to Muniyappa, essential services, including hospitals, hotels, and commercial users, are not facing any supply issues, and they are being provided with as many cylinders as needed.

Typically, urban areas consume one cylinder every 25 to 30 days, while rural areas use one every 45 days, and the supply is being managed accordingly.

He urged the public not to panic, avoid booking excess cylinders, and refrain from stockpiling. In case of any technical issues, consumers are advised to discuss them with the respective companies to find solutions. The government is taking measures to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience.

The meeting was attended by government secretary Kanagavalli, commissioners Ravi Kumar, the minister’s private secretary Dr. H. Nataraj, and officials from gas companies including Neera Singh, Arundi Goyal, Divya, Murali Char, Subrata Chatterjee, Rajesh Singh, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Pranay Devanagan, Ravi Kumar Tandl, and Prasoon.
