Karnataka CM Bommai hints at fresh COVID guidelines

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday hinted at taking a decision with regard to issuing fresh Covid guidelines in tomorrow’s cabinet meeting.

“Today I have sought for details from our officials with regard to Covid in the month of November. Also, I have sought details on the developments with regard to Omicron in the state. These details will be discussed in tomorrow’s cabinet meeting and accordingly a decision will be taken on issuing fresh Covid guidelines,” he told reporters here.

Later the Chief Minister presided over a meeting of senior officials on Covid-19 control.

The meeting was attended by Karnataka Chief Secretary P Ravikumar, Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Vandita Sharma, Finance Department Additional Chief Secretary ISN Prasad, Chief Ministers Principal Secretary N Manjunatha Prasad and other senior officials.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department said as many as 354 passengers arrived today at the Kempegowda Bengaluru International Airport from at-risk countries, but none were tested Covid positive.

“None of the passengers who arrived at the airport on December 7 have tested Covid positive. But, 40 passengers, aged below 5, were not tested as per the guidelines by the Center,” the official said.

As on Tuesday, as many 4,225 international passengers had arrived between December 1 to December 6 from at-risk countries, but all of them were tested negative upon testing on arrival, the official added.
