Karnataka classes 9, 10 and PUC to resume from August 23

Physical classes on alternate days, Covid norms to be followed: Bommai

BENGALURU:

Following a high-level meeting on Covid management and reopening of schools and colleges, chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday, it was decided to resume physical classes for standards 9, 10 and PUC from August 23 in Karnataka.

The decision follows the CM’s detailed discussion with experts and senior government officials on the reopening of primary and high schools. It was also decided that, based on the Covid situation, a decision on reopening of primary schools and standard 8 would be taken by the end of August.

“It has been decided to conduct classes on alternate days. Guidelines on Covid norms that need to be followed during the reopening of schools will be issued,” the Chief Minister told reporters after the meeting.

Ministers Dr CN Ashwath Narayan and Dr K Sudhakar, experts Dr Deviprasad Shetty and Dr CN Manjunath, Dr Sudarshan, Technical Committee Chairman, P Ravikumar, Chief Secretary, and others officials were present.
