Kalaburagi: In a shocking daylight heist, a gang of four armed miscreants looted a jewellery store in Kalaburagi’s Saraf Bazaar on Thursday afternoon, making away with approximately 2.5 kilograms of gold jewellery, estimated to be worth ₹1 crore.
The robbers entered the Malik Jewellers store around 12:30 pm, tied up the shop owner, and looted the ornaments at gunpoint before fleeing the scene. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused entered the shop on the pretext of purchasing jewellery before executing the planned robbery. Police Commissioner Dr. Sharanappa visited the crime scene and reviewed the security footage.
Brahmapur Police Station has registered a case, and forensic teams are examining the scene. Two of the four accused have been partially identified through CCTV footage, with one seen covering his face with a mask and the other with a handkerchief.
The incident comes just days after another daylight bank robbery in the region, raising concerns about public safety and policing in commercial zones.
