BENGALURU:
Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murthy has offered to set up a hospital exclusively to tackle Covid-19 cases in Bengaluru. She has proposed taking over an existing government hospital and equipping it with all the necessary infrastructure and the latest equipment.
Murthy conveyed her proposal to Education Minister S Suresh Kumar over the phone on Thursday. She has reportedly also discussed the matter with Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar and Health and Family Welfare Minister B Sriramulu. The government too has shown interest in her offer.
Minister Suresh Kumar said on Facebook, “I got a call from Infosys chairperson Sudha Murthy. She spoke to me about the measures that should be taken in the state to prevent the spread of corona virus…”
“Murthy proposed to take over one hospital by providing the necessary equipment. A letter has also been written by Sudha Murthy to the chief minister on this issue,” the minister said.
Meanwhile Minister Sudhakar said the state government is in talks on an exclusive hospital for corona virus cases.
