Actor scotches ‘affair’ rumours, says cops did not question him ‘much’ on drugs issue

BENGALURU:

Sandalwood actor Yogesh, nicknamed ‘Loose Maada Yogi’, said the police did not ask him “too many questions” at an inquiry by the state’s Internal Security Department (ISD) related to the drug case. He and ex-cricketer NC Ayyappa had received a notice from the ISD on Saturday to appear for questioning on Monday.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Yogi said, “The Internal Security Department issued a notice to me on Saturday. Yesterday (Monday) I had been to the inquiry. They didn’t ask me many questions. Their questions were very simple and mostly on my personal life.” He said he could not disclose the questions asked by the department because he was told not to do so.

Responding to rumours that Ragini and he had had an affair, he said, “We made a film together in 2013. I haven’t called or visited Ragini after that. Do not spread any such news that I had a relationship with the actress. I too have a family and a child. The department did not even question me on Diganth and Aindrita.”

Suspecting that he might have received the summons following an interview given to a YouTube channel, Yogi said, “In that interview, I had talked about drinking, cigarette addiction and depression in my life. That is why I feel I got the notice.”

He said, “The police did not ask any questions about Ragini. They questioned me on the drugs matter. They asked me about my personal life and about some friends.” He added, “My mobile phone was with me and they didn’t even take it.”

Regarding a recent complaint by neighbours over his partying, Yogi said, “Some of us were watching the IPL match and the neighbours complained that we were partying loudly. But it was not the party but the sound from the IPL match. The police were told about it.”
