KARWAR:

Senior Congress leader R V Deshpande on Sunday claimed that at least 26 leaders from BJP have applied to join the Congress. “I have all those applications. All of them are definitely joining the party. It will be known at the right time”, former minister R V Deshpande revealed.

Speaking to the media while participating in the district Congress preliminary meeting for the Lok Sabha elections in Ankola, Deshpande said, “What can the Congress MLAs do after going to the BJP? The BJP has no strength to run the government. Is it possible to go there and form a government? No one is leaving; Congress is getting stronger by the day. The main leaders of the BJP are turning to the Congress”, he added.

Reacting to a query on cabinet expansion, he said, “It is for the chief minister to decide. There is nothing wrong with me as an MLA, I have worked as a minister for so many years, I am happy. I will not even contest the Lok Sabha election. Even my children won’t contest. I am currently spending peaceful days”.
