Hope in the air: Bengaluru’s Covid positivity rate stands at 3.23%

Karnataka’s overall positivity rate at 6.02% is still worrisome

BENGALURU:

A day before ‘Unlock 1’ begins in Bengaluru on Monday, the city’s Covid-19 test positivity rate stood at 3.23% while the city also reported 1,348 fresh cases in the last 24 hours.

7810 new cases in state

Even as 19 districts, including Bengaluru, go into ‘unlock’ mode from Monday morning, Karnataka’s overall test positivity rate stood at 6.02% — higher than the Centre’s recommended 5% for relaxations — with 1,29,617 tests and 7,810 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.

Announcing the latest statewide and Bengaluru figures on Sunday, Karnataka’s Health, Family Welfare and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar tweeted: “With 1,29,617 tests and 7,810 new cases in the last 24 hours, Karnataka’s positivity rate stands at 6.02%. 18,648 recoveries were reported in the state today, including 4,125 in Bengaluru. With 41,618 tests and 1,348 new cases, Bengaluru’s positivity rate stands at 3.23%.”
