MR Ravi currently asymptomatic and in home isolation

CHAMARAJANAGAR:

In perhaps the first reported instance if its kind in the country, Chamarajanagar District’s Deputy Commissioner MR Ravi tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday despite having already received the required two doses of the Covid vaccine. Ravi is currently asymptomatic and is being monitored while in home isolation.

Chamarajanagar District Health Officer Dr MS Ravi confirmed the development to TheBengaluruLive and said the Deputy Commissioner presently doesn’t have any symptoms. “He was having a mild fever and throat pain on Saturday, after which he got himself tested, and his report on Sunday came positive,” Dr Ravi said.

Surprisingly, the Deputy Commissioner contracted the coronavirus despite having completed two doses of Covid vaccination. He took his first dose on February 8 and the second dose on March 8.

As a district head, the Deputy Commissioner had set a good example by always wearing a mask in public and following all kinds of precautionary measures. He came in contact with the virus 27 days after getting the second dose of the vaccine.
