Bengaluru: As Bengaluru prepares to bid farewell to 2025 and welcome New Year 2026, the city police have put in place stringent security arrangements across major celebration hubs, including MG Road, Brigade Road, Church Street, Koramangala and surrounding nightlife zones.
Speaking on the preparedness, Bengaluru Police Commissioner S. Seemanth Kumar Singh said the focus this year is firmly on crowd control, women’s safety, and zero tolerance towards crime during New Year celebrations.
He stated that police will restrict excessive crowding in high-footfall areas such as MG Road and Brigade Road. Once crowd density crosses safe limits, entry will be temporarily stopped, and repeated movement in and out of these zones will not be allowed. While people are free to visit pubs, hotels and restaurants, loitering and regrouping in public streets will be strictly prohibited.
Women’s Safety a Top Priority
The Commissioner said enhanced women safety measures have been rolled out, including the deployment of a large number of women police personnel, senior women officers, lady DCPs, women marshals, women bouncers and women drivers.
Special Women Help Desks, QR code–based emergency access, Safety Islands, and temporary women shelters with police and health staff will be operational across the city. Emergency response teams will be on standby to respond immediately to distress calls.
Pubs, Clubs Under Strict Watch
Police have held multiple meetings with pub and bar owners, issuing clear do’s and don’ts. Inspections have already been conducted, and violations have resulted in warnings and cases. Authorities stressed that establishments must treat patrons responsibly and not merely as customers, especially in cases involving intoxication or medical emergencies.
Joint inspections have also been carried out with the Fire Department and Excise Department, keeping in mind recent incidents in other states.
Message to Visitors
Welcoming tourists and partygoers from across India and abroad, the Commissioner said Bengaluru remains one of the country’s most vibrant New Year destinations, and police are committed to ensuring safe, smooth and incident-free celebrations.
“Celebrate responsibly, follow the rules, and cooperate with the police. Anyone creating disturbances will face strict action,” he warned.
