Karnataka DyCM donates Rs 1,000 each to 200 supporting artistes

BENGALURU:

DyCM Dr Ashwath Narayan distributed free food kits, donated by Bharat Gowda Charitable Trust, to Sandalwood supporting artistes on Sunday.

Narayan acknowledged the difficulties faced by the cinema industry since March 2020, and urged organisations and individual donors to come to the aid of the distressed film industry workers.

Vaccination for film workers

The government would consider categorizing film workers as frontline workers for the purpose of vaccination, he said. The DyCM also announced a personal donation of Rs 1,000 each to 200 supporting artistes.

Food kits to 30 artistes were handed over on the spot, while another 170 kits will be sent to the homes of artistes.

Artistes Honnavalli Krishna, Ganesh Rao, Meese Anjanappa, Dingri Nagaraj, Umesh Hegde, Sitara and Bharath Gowda were among those present.
