DAVANGERE/BENGALURU:
Congress MLA Ravikumar Ganiga (Mandya) has sparked controversy by asserting that Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar will assume the role of Chief Minister in two and a half years.
“DK Shivakumar will become the Chief Minister after two and a half years,” Ganiga said.
Ganiga confidently stated, “There is no doubt about it.” This development comes amidst KPCC president D K Shivakumar’s warning to party leaders against making public statements, which highlights the internal factionalism within the party.
MLA Ravi further emphasized Shivakumar’s dedication and hard work for the party, dispelling any confusion surrounding his potential appointment. He dismissed rumors spread by opposition parties, clarifying that there is no agreement between the Chief Minister and the Congress high command regarding this matter. “While I am unaware of the specifics discussed by the high command, it is certain that D K Shivakumar will assume the role of Chief Minister and state party president. There is no ambiguity in this regard, as the final decision lies with the high command,” he added.
Regarding Siddaramaiah, the MLA commended his performance during his first term as Chief Minister and stated that decisions regarding leadership will be made in due course. He emphasized the unity within the Congress party, asserting that all 136 MLAs belong to a single group, dispelling any notions of internal divisions.
Addressing the opposition, the MLA accused those responsible for the downfall of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government of resuming their operations. He claimed that they visit Congress MLAs’ houses in the morning, and the party possesses evidence in the form of videos and audios, which will be released soon. Furthermore, he alleged that the BJP entices MLAs with promises of Rs 50 crore and arranges special flights for them to meet Amit Shah. However, he expressed confidence that their MLAs will not succumb to such temptations.
