BENGALURU:
Karnataka BJP on Saturday accused Congress workers of setting on fire Kannada flag in Maharashtra and a Congress worker for defacing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue for fomenting linguistic tension in the state.
“Congress workers were the ones who set on fire the Kannada flag in Maharashtra. They also defaced Shivaji’s statue in Bengaluru to disturb linguistic harmony in the state. Their actions, motives, and forces behind them are making people of the state suspicious of Congressmen,” Karnataka BJP said in a tweet.

In another tweet attached with four photographs, Karnataka BJP pointed at a person standing next to KPCC President DK Shivakumar and Congress MLA Zameer Ahmed Khan for defacing the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji by pouring a coloured liquid on it.
“This man standing next to @INCKarnataka President @DKShivakumar & its MLA @BZZameerAhmedK has insulted great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It appears that CONgress has unleashed its workers to create communal tensions in the State. Kannadigas will teach them a befitting lesson,” the party alleged.

On December 17, the Kannada flag was reportedly burnt in Kolhapur by Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES).
On Thursday, members of Karnataka Assembly passed a censure motion against the burning of Kannada flag in Kolhapur.
The Shiv Sainiks came out in the streets in retaliation to the blackening of face of MES leader Deepak Dalvi in Belagavi.
The MES was organizing a ‘Mahamelav’ in Belagavi parallel to the Assembly session held in the Suvarna Soudha.
The police had taken Kannada activists into custody on the spot for blackening the face of the MES leader.
In another tweet, Karnataka BJP asked Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to question his party’s partner and AICC President Sonia Gandhi for insulting Chhatrapati Shivaji.
In the race to gain control over the party in the State, it appears that CONgress leaders are indulging in creating communal riots in Karnataka.

Does CM @OfficeofUT has the guts to question his partner Sonia Gandhi for insulting the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj?
“In the race to gain control over the party in the State, it appears that CONgress leaders are indulging in creating communal riots in Karnataka. Does CM @OfficeofUT (Thackeray) have the guts to question his partner Sonia Gandhi for insulting the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj?,” it tweeted.
